ELF Moisturizing Lipstick

ELF is a very affordable brand which stands for eyes lips and face. Lately I purchased few products from ELF and this elf moisturizing lipstick was one of them. This lipstick is a part of their studio range and generally costs about $3 in elf website and other drugstores.

I bought it in the shade ROSY GO ROUND which is very vibrant rose pink. Its kind of neutral to cool tone but pink is a color which suits every skin tone and compliments any look. The color of Rosy-Go-Round is sheer but its easily buildable and you can control the pigmentation according to your liking but swiping two or more coats on your lips.

Packaging:

The packaging comes in a black plastic tube. The design of this case reminds me off NARS lipstick. Most of the ELF products packaging are inspired from NARS packaging. Since the tube is plastic its very light. The lid doesn’t shut tightly. It does make a “click” when it closes, but it doesn’t take much effort to pull off the lid.

My Review:

The texture is quite creamy and moisturizing since it easily glides on lips and the lipstick can be intensified by giving more coats. This pink will suit most people since its vibrant but not gaudy. it glides on smoothly and you can totally skip the lip balm.It does transfer and require touch-ups after eating, but I’ve found that if applied with a brush, blotted then re-applied I can get a couple more hours of wear from it. It leave a nice, even stain behind.  The stain is not a weird shade of pink–it’s quite true to the original color of the lipstick as it fades. The fragrance is like warm vanilla and it reminds me a bit of MAC lipsticks. The flavor is subtle and tastes like vanilla but its’s not strong . It’s a very well done lipstick, for $3 and cruelty free and it’s the only vibrant pink lipstick I’ve ever been really happy with.

I can’t speak about all  the shades in this range because this is the only shade I own and so far I am loving Rosy-Go-Round. It’s a very comfortable to wear, and I really like how  you can easily build the pigmentation and go from a sheer wash of color to bold pigmentation in just a few swipes.IMG_0817

Pros :

  • Very smooth and creamy texture
  • Moisturising
  • Travel friendly
  • Easy to use
  • It comes off with ease when you are taking it off
  • Affordable price
  • Great quality
  • Leaves a nice stain!
  • Doesn’t easily creep into lines around the mouth.
  • Cruelty Free

Cons:

  • Pigmentation need to be built with couple of swipes

So is it for you? Yes if you are into pink lipsticks this will instantly perk you up and if you are a makeup beginner then I highly recommend this.

NYX Color Correcting Powder

I was shopping at Ulta Beauty and I came across this NYX color correcting powder and I was amazed to see that its inexpensive when compared to other high end banana powder. So, I thought I need to try this and so here is my review on this little pan.

My Reviews:

NYX Color Correcting Powder is a color correcting powder available in green, banana, and lavender shade selections. Green helps to diffuse redness, lavender brightens up yellow undertones, and yellow will brighten redness or olive tones. These do not come with a powder puff or brush so you have to use your own brush for application.

It has such cute packaging. I got in the shade banana. It has super silky texture and it blends into the skin flawlessly. It’s like a creamy powder if that makes sense, like its soft. Because I crease a lot, I use the powder to set my concealer with a damp beauty blender or a fluffy synthetic brush. It’s definitely buildable coverage, definitely doesn’t crease a lot, or at a fast rate. Also, you have to be careful when using this. Too much will make you “ashy” but if right amount of product is used it is beautiful. I do not have much red on my skin so I also use it as a highlighter and it gives great coverage.

Lasts for a few hours with minimal touching up required. I have been using this product for quite some time now and I totally love this product.

Pros:

  • Lovely, finely milled pressed powder
  • Doesn’t cake
  • Reduces appearance of pore
  • Talc free and Mineral based
  • Controls oil without making skin look dry
  • The packaging is simple & sleek, great for travel

Cons:

  • Medium to dark skin tone- If used a lot of product it might look ashy
  • Does not long all day and require touch ups

My Reviews:

I’ve been using it for a couple of months now and this is probably one of the best drugstore finishing sprays out there. It definitely makes my makeup last longer. It gives my makeup a nice matte finish. It doesn’t last all day but it makes it last longer than if I wasn’t putting it on. I would recommend putting it on before and after makeup because it makes it last a little longer. This setting spray is superb. Not only is it good value for money, it actually works! I apply it over my foundation, then again after I’ve added powder/blush etc and my make up lasts me a good 14 hours.IMG_0525

Pros:

  • Best spray mechanism. It produces finer mist than UD or Skindinavia.
  • It gives a matte finish, I mean very matte. My face stays matte 12 hours later (I have dry skin, but imagine that it would work well for oily gals too).
  • While being matte, it doesn’t make me look flat or dull. My skin looks and feels velvety.

Cons:

While the mist is finer, it takes a long time for the product to sink into the skin. It just sits on top of my skin for almost a minute. I found that weird. After a minute, everything is well absorbed and it looks great. I usually give my face a quick dust of NYX HD Powder just in case to make sure that my face is completely dry.

Tip: You have to make sure that your makeup is all good before spraying it. Once you put it on, it sets your makeup solid, so trying to fix your makeup after that will be next to impossible. It will not budge and any makeup that you put on top will seem patchy.

January Favorites 2016

Hey Guys !

The month of January is over and I know I am late in uploading this post so my apologies. Lately I have been enjoying few products which I wanted to share with you all so here I go 😛

IMG_0512

EOS Lip Balm:

This lip balm contains Vitamin E, shea butter and jojoba oil to keep your lips kissably smooth.100% natural flavor

Vitamin E Serum In Oil:

I have been using this for more than three months now and this is one of my favourite face oil which I use every single night. My skin feels recharged, replenished and softer. During winters skin tends to get dry and I personally experience this problem and by using this oil every night my skin feels smoother and soft.

Stila Liquid Lipstick:

This is by far my all-time favorite lipstick and I am obsessed with the way it goes on liquid and dries matte finish-all without drying your lips. Once it dries you can touch your lips and it won’t stain or rub off either. Stays all day long.

Mac Studio Fix Foundation:

This is my favourite foundation. It gives full coverage and lasts all day long. The quality and longevity is amazing. Perfect foundation for me to use during winters with a little of SPF. It has SPF 15 and be it summers or winters sunscreen is a must. So this foundation is best with minimum SPF.

Real Techniques Miracle Sponge:

I love how this sponge blends both of my foundation and concealer flawlessly. This gives me a natural finish and blends every product. In my opinion it is better than the beautyblender since it is cheaper, great quality and has a flat side so you can set the product better. Highly recommend this.

Hope you enjoyed !

Thanks!
