Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette | Review

I generally don’t stock many eye shadow palettes as I am not a makeup artist and don’t do heavy eye makeup on everyday basis and I have couple of great palettes which are my personal favorite and I use them every time and love them. You can read about them here and here. When I read and saw so much hype about Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette I was not convinced to get due to price and color range because I have similar shades from other palettes. But during the end of the year when Sephora sent me a $20 coupon I knew what I had to purchase and hence got this palette. This palette is originally priced at $42 but I got it for $22.

I am probably the last one to get this palette and now I know why people kept talking about it so much. This palette has beautiful shade selection which will suit all skin tones especially medium skin tones since it has some wonderful transition shade. The palette has mix of metallic and matte shades but more of matte. The texture is so smooth and buttery. It blends into skin so effortlessly and it has very high pigmentation. I recommend dabbing off excess while taking the eyeshadow but even if you end up applying more eyeshadow blending can be so easy and gives a smooth finish. There are beautiful shades and so many looks can be created using this palette, however I wish there was a matte black in this palette.

The packaging comes in a sturdy cardboard box and lid is like mauve pink color with velvet finish. The packaging look super cute but it can look dirty after sometime but that doesn’t matter since the inside stuff is to die for!! The palette comes with a double sided brush. Not a big fan of the brush though !!

You get 14 shades in total.

Tempera is a vanilla shade with a matte finish

Golden Ochre is an earthy yellow with a matte finish

Vermeer is an iridescent shell with a metallic finish

Buon Fresco is an antique lavender with an matte finish

Antique Bronze is a metallic bronze with a satin finish

Love Letter is a raspberry with a matte finish

Cyprus Umber is a coffee shade

Raw Sienna is a neutral amber with a matte finish

Burnt Orange is a deep orange with a matte finish

Primavera is a shimmery gold with a matte finish

Red Ochre is a sienna with a matte finish

Venetian Red is a crimson with a matte finish

Warm Taupe is an earthy gray with matte finish

Realgar is an orange brick with a matte finish.

I know by now every single person own this but still I highly recommend this palette to everyone who are still considering to buy. This is a great buy and totally worth the money.

Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Eyeshadow Palette

Hey Beauties,

I was eyeing on UD Naked 3 Palette for a long time now because I love the rose gold packaging and the rose gold tones shadows of the palette but was definitely not ready to splurge on UD eye palette so I searched for some dupes and got Maybelline The Blushed Nudes palette.

The Expert Wear Blushed Nudes Palette by Maybelline offer great colors that are perfect for everyone. These shades have great pigment and will help you achieve the perfect day or evening look.

My Reviews:

This palette comes with 12 cool toned eye-shadows. The colors are generally rose gold toned, light to dark pinks and dark grey. Out of the 12 shadows, 11 are shimmery- metallic and 1 is matte. These eye-shadows have slight chunkiness/graininess to them.  A primer is a must to use these eye-shadows. Without primer the color payoff is really bad. So, I would highly recommend using a primer with these eye-shadows. Also, I feel if these shadows are applied with a wet brush or fingers the color pay intensity on lid is more. You need to keep layering up the color to intensify. The darker greys in the palette are much more pigmented and got less chunkiness and feels smooth which makes blending easy. The eye-shadows stays for good 5-6 hours with a primer and doesn’t fade away and was totally impressed by this. This palette comes with double side sponge applicator brush which I am not a big fan of.

I like to use this for everyday look which gives a soft toned and natural look. I got a medium skin tone and I feel these eyeshadows dint show up well on my eyelids. So, I first used a concealer as a primer to cancel any darkness and redness and set with a powder. It made a huge difference with and without primer so I can’t stress enough that a primer is a must while playing with this palette.

Talking about packaging, it comes in a sturdy rose gold plastic packaging. I love how the palette looks and is very travel friendly.

I’m not totally mesmerized by this palette but I do think it’s worth considering if you don’t want to splurge on an expensive UD Naked 3 Palette. This could be a nice, affordable alternative if you have a bit of patience (and primer).

  • Travel friendly
  • Sturdy packaging
  • Inexpensive
  • Good for everyday use

  • Primer is a must for color payoff
  • Chunkiness
  • Not highly pigmented
